An Autumn Ritual for Letting Go of Your Blocks

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Autumn is the perfect time to clean out and let go of what no longer serves you in your life.

Look around and notice that the days are getting shorter and the leaves are falling from the trees. Soon, there will be less bounty and abundance being offered from the flowers and plants. Nature is letting go of excess and stripping down to the essentials - to what is really necessary to get through the long, dark winter. These cues from nature are beautiful invitations to help you in identifying, releasing, and letting go of the excess, of the things that are perhaps weighing you down in your life.

It’s important to “clean house” on an inner level every now and again, and take stock of what you’re holding onto.

So often, you hold on to old fears, resentments, habits, patterns, limiting beliefs and ways of being because they FEEL comfortable since you’ve been clenching on to them for so long. If you plan correctly, you will have not only a juicy vision of your BIG project; you will also end up with a thorough and easy to execute day-by-day and week-by-week plan of how you will get from point A to point B, while still having plenty of time left over to enjoy your life.

But did you know that if you create the details of your plan before being clear on your bigger vision, you usually end up wasting a ton of time and energy?

While you don’t need your 100% completed idea in place in order to plan and move forward, you do need to have a pretty good idea of what you want your vision to look like.

Think of it this way: imagine you live on the East Coast and want to take a road trip to the West Coast. You pack your bags, buy your road map, buy your local attraction guide, get in touch with your friends on the West Coast to let them know you’re coming, and then get in your car to go.

Where are you going? To Los Angeles? To Seattle? To Portland?

If you were driving from NYC to Los Angeles, you would pack a different set of clothing and take a very different driving route with particular rest stops than if you were driving to Seattle. Your plan would be completely different. ...keep reading
