5 Keys to Your Visibility Plan

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

No matter who you are or what your soul-centered project is – entrepreneur, writer, teacher, artist, etc (even if your project is attracting a romantic partner!) – a powerful visibility plan is essential to being able to get seen, be prosperous and get what you want.

When you don’t have an effective visibility plan, then chances are you are under-earning, not getting the acclaim or acknowledgment you want, or doing work that doesn’t fully satisfy you.

I hear this time and time again from women who come to me for help – you have a service, product, artwork, idea that you are in LOVE with. Yet, the clients aren’t coming, or the agents aren’t coming, or the press isn’t coming, or the prospective employers aren’t coming. And here’s what usually happens next: you start beating yourself up, or judging yourself, or feeling victimized or in despair. Not a great way to move forward!

Instead of re-acting in these ways, I want you to take action! And the best way to take action is to create a visibility plan that is effective, soul-centered and powerful.

For my business, as well as the businesses, career changes, creative careers, and world-changing initiatives that I support women with, your visibility plan is one of the most important foundations for success.

Here are 5 Keys to creating & executing a powerful visibility plan:

  1. Have a plan in advance: Ok, I know for some of you this might be obvious, but it is important to mention. You need a plan. Not just a plan in your head, but an actual, concrete visibility plan that you’ve written down, plotted and calendared out. My recommendation is to plan out at least 6 months in advance (but no more than 12 months in advance) so that you have time to prepare, time for contingency, and time to re-work any new ideas into the mix.

If you don’t plan in advance, you’re going to find you’re always rushing to catch up, or two days too late for that conference application, press release submission, networking event, or community email.

  2. Make it Personal: I meet way too many rising leaders out there who write marketing copy, create video or prepare talks that speak to what they think people are looking for and what they assume people might want from them. Instead, I want you to share your message from a place of what is true and authentic for you and who you are, as well as speak directly and personally to your audience.

Your clients, viewers, readers, and press will be much more likely to walk through your door if you reveal YOURSELF through your marketing and speak directly to their hearts and souls (not their minds).

  3. Choose Visibility Strategies that Match Your Strengths: There are so many awesome visibility strategies out there: newsletters, email, video, in-person workshops, Facebook, networking meetings, blogs, audio, referral program, Twitter – this list goes on and on. This is one of the things I absolutely love about visibility and marketing: the sky’s the limit on your creativity and how you choose to make yourself known, and nothing is pre-set or cookie cutter.

But here is an important tip: choose those strategies that make the most sense for you and your soul-centered project. For example, if your newsletter and blog are your biggest visibility strategies, but you just hate writing and it takes you hours to write a paragraph – choose a different strategy! Or, if you’ve been mainly focusing on social media, but you’re the type of person that folks are immediately attracted to when they meet you in person, go to more networking events or do in-person presentations. The most effective visibility strategies are the ones that match how you show up best as well as how your ideal clients HEAR your message best.

  4. Enlist Partners: You can’t bring your big message and vision to the world alone. There is not one single person (unless they’ve already reached Oprah status) who has so many people in their sphere of influence that they can attract in visibility without creating partnerships and joint ventures.

Partnerships are one of the best visibility tools out there. When you enlist other individuals, organizations and businesses to help promote you and spread the word about your project, your ability to reach your ideal client increases exponentially.

  5. Activate “P.C.A.”: P.C.A is a beloved Soulful Coaching acronym for Persistent and Consistent Action. P.C.A can make the difference between a successful and non-successful plan.

Consistent Action = taking at least 3 actions towards your visibility strategies each working day. If you aren’t taking consistent action, then even the best laid plan in the world isn’t going to work. Think about it in terms of a flower: you need to water that flower regularly in order to keep it alive and see it grow.

Persistent Action = following-up. I know – for some of you, this is the “F” word of marketing. It feels way too scary to follow-up on an email you sent out with a call to action or a talk you gave where you want to send folks more info about your work. Yet, often times folks don’t “buy” or “connect in” on the first bit, so follow-up is 100% necessary in order to reach your visibility goals.

Now that you’ve got the 5 Soul-Centered Keys for Visibility, have fun letting the world know about your sacred purpose and message!

Blog Summit - Day 3 - Entrepreneurial Gratitude

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

Wow, it’s Day 3 and it’s hard to believe the Summit is nearly over even though it just began! We’ve heard from some powerful people so far but what does gratitude mean to you? Join us on November 18th for some powerful exercises and rituals that can help YOU incorporate consistent gratitude as you attain your soul-centered goals. Registration for this free event takes only a moment - so register here!

nika_stewartI’ve learned so much from our previous writers but my dear friend, Nika Stewart, has a different take on gratitude - the entrepreneurial side of gratitude. Some describe Nika Stewart as a talented, quirky, edgy designer, while others regard her as a cutting-edge businesswoman. And while both descriptions are accurate, they do not capture her true essence. Nika is a lifestyle entrepreneur: A professional who has seamlessly integrated her career into her life. After building a successful career as a designer, she created an information marketing business so she could spend quality time with her family. Nika discovered that other moms were searching for that same flexibility and freedom, so she launched www.LaptopMom.com to teach others how to create passive income… during naptime! You can connect with Nika via Twitter and Facebook! You can learn more about the Laptop Mom’s most popular program, Social Media Done For You, at www.GhostTweeting.com.

Entrepreneurial Gratitude
By Nika Stewart
Do you ever have these types of thoughts?

  • I wish I didn’t have so many challenging customers.
  • Why can’t I find higher-end clients?
  • My customers don’t spend that kind of money.
  • The market is really slow right now.

Remember: “What you focus on… expands.

When you instead start feeling gratitude for the business you NOW have, you will start to attract more of those things you are grateful for.

Do you have clients who pay you (even if it seems like a small amount)? Be grateful for them.

Are you able to arrange your schedule to have a little quality time with your loved ones? Feel gratitude for this blessing.

Are you doing what you love for a living? Remember to feel thankful everyday for this opportunity.

“The daily practice of gratitude is one of the conduits by which your wealth will come to you.” - Wallace Wattles, author of The Science of Getting Rich

Recently, I created a Gratitude Experiment for my clients and ezine readers. For seven days, participants wrote down 5 things they felt grateful for. If they were feeling frustration around business, they focused on appreciating every good thing about it. A great comment from a client. The flexibility to take an hour for lunch. The ability to work in their pajamas.

After just a few days, we got comments like:

“It’s amazing how well it works and how much inspiration there is in this simple exercise.”

“This exercise has taught me to be appreciative of all things, regardless of how small they may seem.”

“I feel a warm fuzzy and think this is a great way to end the day or begin it!”

“This is the best exercise, I am feeling so happy! Let’s not stop.”

Feeling gratitude: It’s simple. It’s powerful. It fuels your success.

Looking forward to sharing in your happiness, appreciation, and gratitude.

Sigrid also owns and operates the site The Joyful Mother which offers inspiration, one on one coaching and online courses with new courses launching this January! The Joyful Mother helps conscious moms dissolve resistance, in the form of stress, self-doubt, frustration, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, etc., that stands in the way of living and loving as a Joyful Mother. Getting to Your Joy Default
By Sigrid Kjeldsen
For many of us, struggle, strain and turmoil is how we learn. Coming out the other end of really awful situations is how we understand and SEE that life is indeed beautiful. Over at The Joyful Mother Facebook community, we have moms that have experienced the unthinkable – the loss of a child or of a spouse. Many of these moms have used and are learning to use, their experiences to cultivate a greater appreciation for life.

Then there is this huge group of us today that haven’t gone through such turmoil. But we seem to complain about life as if we had. Our children are irritating and wild, our jobs are stressful, all of the responsibilities we juggle are draining, we are out of shape and exhausted and we often feel we are living our lives unfulfilled and frustrated. The biggest challenge for this group is the tendency to seek fulfillment and meaning outside of ourselves. Doing this creates a sort of happiness instability. We are happy when things are going right, frustrated when things go wrong.

For the first group, the stressor is so extreme, so worst-case scenario, that after some time people realize “Hey! I just experienced my greatest fear”, and they often recognize that underneath fear, worry, stress, frustration is this naturally, pulsating joyful life experience. What I call The Joy Default.

You see the people living with, let’s say, less major stress have accepted this way of life as the NORM. We have completely normalized stress because we see no other way, we see no relief. The only thing that we think will give us relief is a change in our external circumstances. If you lack money, relief comes only with the addition of more money. If you hate your job, relief comes only in the form of a new, better job. If you find balancing work and home life a struggle, relief only comes in finding the perfect balancing act. This group is fundamentally unconscious of what the other group sees and has recognized– that there is life underneath the life experience as Ekhart Tolle says.

Does this explain your life? If so, you are one of millions that feel the same. But today could be the day life changes for you! I am going to tell you how to escape from a life of stress and frustration and it is the easiest, most lovely habit you could ever cultivate.

It is about getting grateful. Your life will literally change when you start focusing on all the blessings in your life. Really feel them, see them and cultivate a deep awareness of these things throughout your day. And do you know what will start happening? You will find the RELIEF you have been searching for. Relief from your daily struggles, from what isn’t working in your life, and discover your life underneath your life experience or your Joy Default.

So, ask yourself this…”If you woke up tomorrow with only the things you thanked God for yesterday, what would you have?”

How Are YOU Doing Gratitude?
By Jennifer Urezzio
You know gratitude is a funny thing. We hear a lot about it. We know we are “supposed” to do it and what I believe happens is this: life’s patterns get in the way.

Recently, it was my birthday! YAY, for me! I received over 300 Facebook well wishes. I was grateful for each one of those messages and yet…I noticed myself not fully pausing and letting those wishes and support truly be received.

Again, here was another example to really pause and practice what I preach. To PAUSE and connect with the Divine and with my Soul.

I believe gratitude is just another way of experiencing your connection with your Soul. It is an opportunity for you to PAUSE and explore that feeling of being one with Creation. So for me, it is important how I choose to conduct gratitude.

How are you choosing to conduct gratitude?

  1. Are you racing through it, so you can get to the “things” on your list that you haven’t received?
  2. Are you practicing gratitude because you “think” it will help you get what you want?
  3. Are you practicing gratitude because you were told it is the “right” action to take?
  4. Are you present in gratitude? Giving your heart over to gratitude and being one with the Divine?

That last one is how I intend to conduct Gratitude. Some days, I’m really spot-on with that intention and other days…Well, other days, I get to really connect to my Soul and the Divine to remember who I am and the truth of me!

See, it is all one – gratitude, abundance, love, joy…These are all aspects of the Divine and if you want to have a deeper relationship with the Divine than I suggest you meet the Divine on its playing field.

Start with just being present

If your answer was anything other than D, you can step up your gratitude practice. I suggest the first step is just being present. Be present with how you feel as you are expressing gratitude. Are you thinking about other things? Are you looking into someone’s eyes when you say thank you? Just for today when you offer gratitude to other just be in the moment. See how that changes your day and than your life.

Blog Summit - Day 1 - The Key to Happiness

The Key to Happiness
By Barbara Biziou
The only way I know to sustain real comfort in these times of collective anxiety is to practice living in the moment.

Appreciating what we have is the magical tool to creating harmony and joy. Gratitude is a key that turns the lock and opens the mind and heart. It reminds me of what I do have and allows me to shift focus from scarcity to prosperity.

My 93-year-old mother is a perfect example of this. When I spoke to her this morning and asked her how she was, she responded with a simple answer of what was right in her life. Even though she fell yesterday and is banged up, all she told me was, “the sun is shining today and the fall could have been worse”. She has the ability to be totally present in the now and looks for the good in any situation. Like a small child, she is aware of the beauty and magic in everything around here.

When I am able to slow down (not easy for a New Yorker) enough to see and appreciate the beauty in life, I transcend the ordinary and my spirit opens to joy. Life becomes simple again and I am more than able to cast away my tendency to over worry and over think life.

I know that it is up to me to change how I view the world. There is a freedom in being in the present moment. In this place I can bless every gift the Universe sends me from the love I already have in my life to a friendly smile from a stranger.

This does not mean I am a Pollyanna and unaware of the realities of life. It just means that I more easily accept the challenges life throws my way. I am consciously aware of my current reality, but do not let it define my future. In this way I gain greater energy and an increased capacity for joy.

I have learned that whenever I show appreciation, I actually reinforce the good that I bless and it increases and grows. When I criticize (especially myself) I reinforce the bad that I don’t like and it also increases and grows.
My friend Donna Henes once told me, “Whenever you find yourself criticizing yourself, apologize and pat yourself on the back!” This has become one of my favorite rituals to share. Thanks, Donna!

Today, I give thanks for all the people in my life who have given me love, support and caring. I bless the Earth and all who live on and in her who have added to my life.

Sometime in the next week, make sure to call and/or write to share your appreciation with the special people in your life. Don’t wait! Life is a gift and we need to appreciate each moment.

Get Naked: How to Feel Comfortable in Your Own Skin
By Jenny Fenig
When was the last time you felt totally comfortable in your own skin and liberated in your body? Yesterday? Last month? Last year? Last decade?

For some of you, it’s been way, way too long.

Do you ever dream of dancing on a table, going into a sauna with no clothes on, or expressing yourself creatively without inhibitions? Sensual self-expression is good for the soul. It’s healthy. It’s necessary. It’s how you share your voice with the world.

Sensuality is an inner glow. It’s your own personal fire that can be nurtured and stoked. It can grow when you bring your awareness to it.

And know this: when you ignore or suppress your sensual self-expression, a piece of you dies. Yes, your voice stays locked away nice and tight. Your truth is denied. It hurts. And do you know what’s worse? When you keep your sensual self-expression locked away, you also deny spreading your magic and your gift with the people you are meant to serve. These peeps need you.

Ready to make a change?

“Sensual self-expression is a woman’s birthright.” – Charlotte Rose

Starting now, you are going to reach down deep inside to bring out the essence of your sensual self. This is gonna be good …

So I’m a big fan of women calling upon Goddesses to teach them how to live powerful, kick-a** lives. You can learn a lot from these wise women. And you can realize you are a Goddess too … so start acting like one (for help with this, grab your free membership in the Gutsy Goddess Society, a sparkly online community for gutsy gals living life on purpose). Makes life a ton more fun and magical. You’ll see.

Let’s call on a super-cool, gorgeous Goddess named Oshun. She is all about bringing out your sensuality and appreciating yourself. She’s a major love goddess. Oshun is awesome.

You’re going to get naked with Oshun. Yup, it’s time to strip away the layers to truly get comfortable in your own skin. Then, and only then, will you get closer to living your truth, speaking your truth, and being the sensual woman you are meant to be.

As a coach and mentor to gutsy gals living life on purpose, my style of guidance and support is all about inspiration in action … so I’m giving you an assignment that will rock your world. Excited? Good! Me too.

Create a Private “Get Naked” Ritual with Oshun as Your Goddess Guide

  1. Dance! (And dance some more!). Pick a time when you know you will be undisturbed. Then, put on some amazing tunes and dance your booty off. It doesn’t matter if you think you can dance or not … just start moving your hips and your arms to the beat of the music. Release all inhibitions and dance just like you did when you were a little girl. Dance like no one is watching and have a ball. Seriously, tear it up like you are a dancing queen.
  2. Make your space sensual. After you’ve worked up a sweat dancing like a dancing goddess queen, turn down the upbeat tunes, pick more chilled out tunes, dim the lights and light a candle.
  3. Get naked. Yup, take it off. It’s time to strip away the layers and look at yourself – without judgment – in the mirror. Notice all of you features, including the areas you normally don’t look it. Admire how beautiful your body is. The more you can begin to focus on seeing your most beautiful self, the more beautiful you will become. Truly. If you have been critical of yourself in the past, it’s time to change that old habit. Now you’re going to recognize that criticism as a distorted image of yourself based on untrue beliefs about what is beautiful. You are beautiful. Believe this and your world will change.
  4. Hello, beautiful. Look into your eyes in the mirror and say these three words: You are beautiful. Then smile. Then wink at yourself. Then smile again.
  5. You’ve been promoted. Now it’s time to give yourself a new, fabulous nickname that captures your newfound sensual identity. Have fun with this. Get wild, gutsy and spunky. Maybe you are the Glowing Goddess or the Queen of Pleasure or the Hot Mama or the Goddess of Adventurous Passion.

Alrighty, it’s high time you love yourself all over! Be grateful for your gifts. Be grateful for your battle scars, your wounds, your past. EVERYTHING (and I mean everything) has led you to this point of you reading this at this very moment. We are supposed to be connected like this. Woo hoo!

My friend, you are supposed to be here. You are supposed to shimmer, shine, rock, roll.

Say yes to life. Say yes to you.

xoxo

Are You Yearning for Something More?

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

logo-mamapresssized1I am so excited to introduce you to my new friend, Tracy! Tracy is founder of Mama-press, a site which offers free “press” to mompreneurs with small home businesses. She provides marketing tips to business owners, offers them an online catalog to showcase their products, and also provides mom-worthy tips and information to small business owners and their customers alike. Connect with her on Facebook and Twitter.

Are You Yearning for Something More?

by Tracy Czech

I have been a stay-at-home mom for 5 years. Prior to that, I held a managerial position in a billion dollar company. The environment was very challenging, very energizing, and very stressful. I chose to resign when my first child was born. At the time, I felt I would stay home with my kids for 5 years, then return to work. When my 5 year self-imposed “deadline” approached, I was definitely getting antsy, but I also knew 5 years home was personally not enough. I casually looked for positions in my former field, I looked into finishing my MBA (which was put on hold mid-stream to start a family), and I looked into getting my masters in a different field altogether. My indecision was somewhat crippling…all I knew was that I wanted and needed to start using my mind for other intelligent and productive things….other than being a wife and mom.

I believe there are two types of stay-at-home moms. One type admittedly has no desire to return to the workforce. She is perfectly content with the traditional definition of a stay-at-home mom and carries on happily forever. The other type more actively seeks personal growth and self-improvement. There are a variety of ways to do this: volunteering and performing community service, pursuing worthwhile hobbies, or returning to school or the workforce. I personally knew I was this type. I knew I would return to the workforce at some point…not out of financial necessity, but out of pure desire. Desire to expand my mind, grow professionally and personally, feel productive, accomplish goals, and be recognized for those accomplishments.

The day came that I had an idea that could potentially be the start of a future home business. It was very exciting to realize that I could build something out of nothing. Yes, me. Although my personal creation is very much in its infancy, it’s extremely fulfilling to be doing something outside of my daily mom activities. I realized I do not need to immediately return to the workforce full time, or hastily decide in which field to get a masters degree. Instead, I can try pursuing a personal dream of owning my own business.

I am a proponent of “if you build it, they will come.” I also believe that professional and intellectual fulfillment doesn’t only come via an outside source, as in a company or university. It can come from an inner idea slowly created over time, in the “back of the mind” of a stay-at-home mom, slowly churning and growing while she is changing diapers, nursing, cleaning, and cooking. Do you have any such ideas? Do you have dreams that you are afraid of pursuing? If so, understand that you can do it…or you can at least try. Seek out and gain support from like-minded others. This will give you a good solid footing…and these communities can give you a wealth of information. Even if things don’t work out to the degree you would like, you will be stronger for trying, and you will be smarter for what you learn along the way.

Brain Science You Can’t Afford to Ignore

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

brain-lg

Have you ever sat down to write an article or to do something really important – only to get up two minutes later to do something like get a glass of water? You might then go back to the important thing you were supposed to be doing but another minute later you drift off to make a shopping list for later in the day. Eventually you remember to get back to the task at hand, only to forget and make a doctor’s appointment instead. You try and try to get back to the task you’re supposed to be doing but then you decide that updating your Facebook status is a much better idea. Eventually you probably give up – throw in the towel for the day and you probably feel awful … like you just wasted your entire day.

Sounds familiar, right? We all do it.

We’re prone to distractions and all those little things that we distracted ourselves with is actually a form of self-sabotage! No one wins when you are sabotaging yourself and you have only yourself to thank!

Self-sabotaging makes everything feel longer, harder, and it becomes exhausting! Most people even berate themselves into oblivion – which just makes the whole situation worse. Fear not, I have some interesting scientific information for you about distractions and self-sabotage.

Neuroscientists recently discovered just how deeply the brain holds the patterns that eventually lead us to distraction and sabotage! There’s good news, though! Apparently, the brain can also re-wire those patterns so that we can take consistent positive action in our lives.

I often write about re-patterning and breaking away from self-sabotage – I even teach a free teleclass on it! If you identified with the person I described above, don’t worry – there’s hope!

It’s time to stop feeling stuck, exhausted, frustrated, and angry at yourself AND others – it’s time to set yourself free to accomplish YOUR goals! Take a moment to visualize your current project and really take notice to what your brain is telling you isn’t working. Your brain can help you unlock the major steps that you’re missing or overlooking but you need to sit down first and take a moment. That moment helps.

Aside from taking moments to breathe – so you don’t become overwhelmed, you may want to consider your self-sabotage. If you want to learn step-by-step how to re-wire those negative patterns, stop thinking those thoughts like “I’m not good enough” and “I don’t deserve this” – and learn how to start believing that you ARE worth it because you ARE good enough! Negative thoughts will keep you from getting what you want.

I teach a lot of great tips like this in my Re-Patterning Your Negative Thoughts and Habits teleclass. My next class is coming up soon! If you want to learn how to eliminate those distractions that stand in your way of success, join me and register for this complimentary class on July 13th! To register, simply go to http://soulfulcoach.com/innerwisdomteleclass.php. Your future is yours, let me help you on your path to success.

Move Beyond Feeling Stuck - 3 Proven Principles for Creating Abundance in Your Life

Monday, June 13th, 2011

businesswomanDoes this scenario sounds familiar? You know deep inside of you that there are things you want, fulfillment you were MEANT to have, riches – material and not – that seem they should be yours. Yet, you walk through your days feeling like some things are missing, feeling lack, feeling like you don’t have enough, feeling resentment about what others have.

The experience of “not having enough” is  common for way too many people. And I want you to know it doesn’t need to be this way. I know you can live an abundant life because I was able to transform my own. Here are my powerful top 3 principles on creating abundance in your life:

Principle 1: Re-Write Your Money Story and Live By It

We each have a very unique and important relationship to money and beliefs around it. Everyone has a money story and it’s your money story that either allows you to attract in prosperity or completely blocks you from having what you want in your life. Your “money story” is a series of beliefs that we have developed about money and our personal relationship to money. If you are in a place in your life where your bank account doesn’t reflect what you want then you can be 100%, absolutely sure that you are operating out of a personal money story that is sabotaging you!

Getting clear on your internal messaging about money is a deep process, and requires you to look closely and courageously at your beliefs around what you deserve, what you really think about wealth, and much more. We learn all seven parts of the process in detail the Women’s Intuitive Leadership Program, but here’s a few pointers: Identify Your Voice of Scarcity – that voice that says “you aren’t enough”. Listen to that voice and the message, then take a moment and ask yourself – what is the thing you are scared of most around money? Whatever it is, work with it, or else it will begin or continue to sabotage your life and your bank account.

Principle 2: Learn the Female Art of Reception

There is an abundance of everything in the world - money, love, opportunities.

Yet, often times, you live and take action and set your mood according to your fears, instead of acknowledging and choosing to live by the incredible abundance that is available to you. Abundance is  your birthright. The Female Art of Reception is vital here. If you don’t know how to receive, then all of the abundance in the world won’t matter because you aren’t prepared and able to allow it in. Learning how to receive starts with acknowledgement and being able to open your eyes to what you have and what is available to you. Make a list of everything you have, all the abundance in your life. No matter what the size of your bank account, this list will help you to step on the path of the female art of reception by attuning you to what you already have.

Principle 3: Create Your Sacred Blueprint & Include Your Bottom Line Numbers

If you don’t have a well thought out action plan or a blueprint for creating abundance, then you are left to navigate your journey without a road map or recognizable landmarks. This can be a frustrating challenge. So, how do you create your Sacred Blueprint? Clearly define the scope of your what you’re creating or what your project is, the time frame you’d like to do it in, and this is so important – the amount of money you’d like to make. Next, you would get very clear on all of the larger action steps that need to happen to accomplish your goal. From there, you want to break each of your action steps into what I call mini-action steps! The smaller you can break the mini-action step into, the more effective your action plan will be because you will be able to get clearer and clearer on exactly what you have to do and how long it will take. Creating a Sacred Blueprint that includes your bottom line numbers, and then fitting your blueprint into your schedule in do-able and manageable chunks is one of the absolute essentials that set successful leaders apart from everyone else.

If you are interested in creating more abundance for yourself and so much more, then I highly recommend the Women’s Intuitive Leadership Program (WILP) that begins on June 15th – so here’s the nitty-gritty:
