This is the most personal post I ever wrote…

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

I want to tell you about an incredibly powerful and transformative breakthrough I’ve recently had in my life.

This is probably the most personal I’ve ever gotten in an email to my community, and I feel a little vulnerable sharing it with you. However, my inner wisdom keeps telling me that it is really important that you hear it.

So, it’s a little longer than usual, but it’s INCREDIBLY important, so here it goes…

Many of you have noticed that I have new headshots. (Thank you for all of the loving compliments and well-wishes you’ve given me on them!!!!)

Here’s what you don’t know about my headshots: it took me TWO WHOLE YEARS of contemplating getting them before I was actually ready to do it.

I knew I needed headshots because I hated the photos I had up on my website and marketing materials. Every time I looked at them I cringed because they just didn’t feel right.

And yet, I still didn’t make time to call a photographer and schedule a photo shoot.

For a long time I thought I was just too busy to get them done. Or, I told myself, I needed to wait until my hair grew to a certain length. Or, I told myself that it was the wrong time of year. Or, I told myself that it wasn’t a worthy investment.

Well, this went on for a while until I started getting unsolicited feedback about my photos. I was told by quite a number of people - some that I had just met! - that those old photos looked nothing really like me, that they didn’t convey my soulful and transformative energy and abilities, and that it looked like I was hiding from the camera in them.

To be honest, at first I was kind of insulted by those comments. Then one day it hit me - I WAS hiding from the camera in those photos, and not just from the camera, but from my community, my current and future clients, my partners, my mentors, and anyone that would come across them.

I was scared of being visible. I was scared of being truly seen and noticed by others. I realized that by not featuring headshots that showed the “real” me, I was allowing myself to stay small and to stay safe and to stay comfortable by not really letting my photographs convey the power of my work and my incredible ability to help women heal their wounds and move forward radically with their businesses, careers, art, relationships and so much more.

An Introduction to Your Own Inner Wisdom

Monday, December 20th, 2010

Has something like this ever happened to you: a friend of yours gives you a call in the evening to invite you to lunch the next day. You are very busy and have been waiting to spend some quality time with yourself, your children, your husband, and just the prospect of going out to lunch with this particular friend makes you feel heavy and exhausted. Still, you say “yes” to her anyway because you feel you need to in order to maintain your friendship, or you fear that otherwise she will be upset with you since this is the third invitation you are turning down.

What you have just experienced is an encounter with your inner wisdom, and a subsequent denial of it.

We do this in so many areas in life from the seemingly small decisions like when we know intuitively that eating another pizza lunch on the go is going to leave us feeling upset and uncomfortable with ourselves but do it anyway because we think we don’t have enough time to do otherwise, to the big things like knowing deep inside that our long-term relationship is unhealthy in many ways but we fear the consequences of breaking it off so much that we just silently suffer through it day after day.

Inner wisdom is also known as ...keep reading

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

It’s that time of the year again - holiday season! Next week, many of us will begin a dizzying six weeks of traveling, eating, partying, spending, and being with family. It can be a lot to handle, even for the most balanced and prepared individuals.

Often, by the time the New Year emerges, you can feel drained, exhausted, bloated, and ready to hide out from your friends and family for a while. That’s not the best way to start the new year!

I want to make sure this doesn’t happen to you this holiday season, and you start 2010 with clarity, vitality, and balance. Here are my top seven tips for thriving and enjoying yourself between now and the end of the year (and beyond!): ...keep reading

5 Ways to Connect to Your Inner Wisdom

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

In our Modern World, life can get really busy and really fast. We spend a lot of time and energy running around, and also place a lot of importance on our left brains - our rational minds.

Despite all this, somewhere, deep in our souls, we know the importance of slowing down and connecting to our inner wisdom, connecting to our right brains - that place of deep intuition and creativity that holds so many answers and so much richness for us.

Here is a list of my absolute favorite top 5 ways to really settle in and listen to the treasury of wisdom that your heart and soul has for you. None of them need to take up a lot of time or effort! Connecting to your inner wisdom can be easy and flowing.

1) Journaling: To cut through the mind’s chitter chatter and get straight to your inner wisdom, journaling works best if you write fast, without stopping, without worrying about grammar or language, or even full sentences. The name of the game is here is to write quickly without judgement or even thought, and see what comes up for you. It helps to start with a provocative phrase like: “I am a woman who…..” or “I am here….” ...keep reading

The Third Key to Accessing Your Intuition – Asking for Clarity

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

As we’ve seen in the last two Soulful Coaching newsletters, the first two steps to Accessing Your Intuition (they are Acknowledging Your Body and Embracing Your Body) allow us to prepare our ourselves so that we can receive the valuable information that is kept there. Once we have re-connected with our bodies and opened the channel for hearing our body wisdom, the next step is Asking for Clarity.

If you haven’t done this before, it is amazing to discover that you really can hear the answers and information that are right for you if you simply ask the questions. So often, we forget to ask. However, the act of asking the question provides us an opportunity to focus on the issue at hand and get clear on what it is we really want to know.

Take Action - Ask for Clarity
